Tucked away on the Essex coast, Frinton-on-Sea is one of England’s most charming and peaceful seaside towns and it’s a wonderful destination for visitors travelling with their dogs.

With wide open beaches, coastal walks and plenty of fresh sea air, it’s the perfect place for long walks and relaxed days by the sea with your four-legged companion, whilst on your Essex seaside break.

If you're planning a coastal escape at Sea View Cottage, a charming 2 bed, dog friendly holiday cottage in Frinton-on-Sea, here are ten lovely dog-friendly things to do.

1. Enjoy a Long Walk Along Frinton Beach with your Dog

The beautiful sandy stretch of Frinton Beach is perfect for a coastal walk with your dog.

Dogs are welcome along most sections of the beach all year round. During the summer months (May to September) a central section of the beach has restrictions, but there are still plenty of areas where dogs are allowed.

It’s a wonderful place for a morning walk when the beach is quiet and the sea air is fresh.

2. Walk the Seafront Promenade

If you visit during the summer months, dogs can still enjoy the seafront by walking along the promenade above the beach.

Dogs are welcome here as long as they are kept on a lead, making it a great alternative walk when the tide is in or during the restricted beach season.

The views across the coastline are beautiful at any time of year.

3. Stroll Across the Greensward

Running along the seafront, the open green space of Frinton Greensward is perfect for a gentle wander with your family when the tide is in.

With sea views and plenty of space, it’s a lovely place to sit for a while while your dog or little ones enjoys the fresh coastal air.

4. Walk from Frinton to Walton-on-the-Naze

8. Stop for Coffee or Ice Cream Along Connaught Avenue

Connaught Avenue is the town’s main shopping street also the “Bond Street of the East Coast” with many idependant shops, cafes and restaurants.

Many cafés welcome well-behaved dogs inside their establishments, making it a great place to stop for coffee after a walk. Pop-pins is a great 1950's style favourite of mine with dogs allowed at the outside seating area.

9. Enjoy Fish and Chips by the Sea

No seaside visit is complete without traditional fish and chips. A popular local favourite is Youngs Other Plaice in Frinton-on-Sea, well known for its freshly cooked takeaway fish and chips.

Many visitors enjoy picking up a takeaway after a walk along the seafront and heading back to relax and enjoy it in the fresh sea air. At Sea View Cottage, guests often like to eat outside on the lovely private patio area in the back garden, or sit on the bench in the front garden which enjoys views across to the sea, a perfect way to end a day exploring the coast.
